Arux Connect: Child Care makes it easy to take attendance quickly and accurately right from your iPad or iPhone. Whether you’re checking students in, signing them out, or marking an absence, the app gives you flexible options to fit your daily routine. This guide walks you through each attendance method so you can record attendance with confidence.
- Make sure your device is connected and has the correct Access Key for your child care Site. If you do not know your access key, contact your site admin, or set up your site Access Key.
- After entering the Access Key, you will see a list of your assigned Sites. Select the site you’re taking attendance for, then tap Launch Site.
Attendance Methods
Most attendance is recorded by parents in Kiosk Mode, but you may need to record attendance manually during transitions between morning and afternoon care.
The app provides several ways that attendance can be updated:
- Individual Sign-In/Sign-Out - Used for one-by-one sign-ins when students arrive or leave individually.
- Sign by Proxy - Used when a caregiver is not present to sign in/out, and staff record attendance for them.
- Mass Sign - Used when multiple students arrive or leave at once, such as bus arrivals or group dismissals.
- Absences - Used to record when a student is not present for a scheduled session.
Individual Sign-In/Sign-Out
Use Individual Sign-In/Sign-Out when caregivers arrive one at a time or when you want to confirm each student’s attendance personally.
From the Attendance tab:
- Tap a student’s name.
- Select Sign In or Sign Out.

- Select the Staff Member signing the student in or out.
- Verify or update the Time.
- Tap Sign In/Out Student.
Best for: Programs that need staff to verify each check-in or when only a few students arrive at once.
Sign by Proxy
If a caregiver forgets to sign in or you need to adjust attendance after the fact, use Sign by Proxy.
If you have enabled early drop off or late pickup fees from the Admin Portal, using Sign by Proxy to sign in or out is the only way to trigger the fee.
From the Attendance tab:
- Tap the student’s name.
- Select Sign In or Sign Out.
- Select the Staff Member signing the student in or out.
- Verify or update the Time.
- Next to Authorized Pickup, tap Select a Pickup.

- Select the name of the Authorized Pickup.
- Tap Sign In/Out Student.
Proxy signatures record the staff member who entered attendance, use only when direct caregiver signature is not possible.
Best for: Cases where caregiver signatures can’t be collected but attendance still needs to be documented for compliance or fees.
Mass Sign
When a group of students arrives together (such as a busload from school), the Mass Sign option lets you check everyone in or out at once.
From the Attendance tab:
- Tap Select in the upper-right corner.
The Attendance tab will update with checkboxes that allow you to select multiple children.

- Select the children you would like to sign in or out, or tap Select All.
- At the bottom of the screen, select Sign In or Sign Out.

- Select the Staff Member signing the students in or out.
- Verify or update the Time.
- Tap Sign In/Out Student.
Best for: High-volume check-ins like after-school arrival or group field trips.
Marking Absences
If a student does not attend for a scheduled date, record an absence to keep your attendance accurate.
From the Attendance tab:
- Tap the student’s name.
- Select Mark Absent.

- Optional: Add a note about the absence.
- Tap Mark Student Absent.
Best for: Marking absences to ensure your attendance reports, and ratios remain correct.
Attendance for an Inactive Site Section
Sometimes you may need to take attendance outside your Site Section's normal operating hours, if students are released early from school in the afternoon, stayed later than normal hours, or were missed during check-in. You can open the section temporarily from the Settings tab.
From the Settings tab:
- Tap Modify Available Sections under Site Settings.

- Select the section(s) to open or close.
- Tap the Left Arrow (←) to return.
- Open the Attendance tab to resume taking attendance.
After updating attendance for an inactive section, remember to change Modify Available Sections to Automatic to return to normal site hours.
