Arux App Basics

Prev Next

The Arux App is designed to make everyday child care interactions easier, faster, and more reliable, especially when signing children in and out of care and staying informed throughout the day.

Built for Child Care Account Owners and their Authorized Pickups, the app gives each person the right tools for their role while keeping child care access clear and secure.

Note:

Need help installing the app? See Installing the Arux App for iOS.

Important Note:

The features available in the Arux App may vary by district or program. Your child care program controls whether options such as the following are available:

  • Mobile sign-in and sign-out
    • Remote Signing
    • QR Scan
  • Activity Feed details, including:
    • Location changes
    • Status updates

If you do not see an option described in this article, it may not be enabled for your program.

Contact your child care program for more information about the app features they use.

Signing In to the App

When you first open the Arux App, the welcome screen prompts you to Sign In.

The Arux app welcome screen displays the Sign In option

Tap the Sign In button to sign in to the app. The Arux App gives you several options for signing in.

  • Email address
  • Continue with Apple
  • Continue with Google
  • Continue with Facebook

If you sign in with your email address, use the same email address and password that you use for the Arux Community Portal.

The sign in modal prompts for you to enter your email or choose to Sign in with Apple, Google, or Facebook

If you use Apple, Google, or Facebook to sign in, choose the option connected to the email address you use for Arux.

Adding Your Signature

The first time you sign in, the Arux App asks you to provide a signature. This saved signature is used for future sign-in and sign-out actions, so you do not need to sign each time you use the app.

Note:

You can update your signature at any time from the Signature option on the More screen.

A signature modal displays an x and line for a signature

Location Permissions

If location permissions have not been enabled, the app prompts you to allow location access. Tapping the Enable option will bring you to your device settings to enable these options.

The Arux App uses location access to confirm when you are near a child care site. This supports remote sign-in and sign-out when that option is available. If location access is not enabled, you can still use QR Scan to sign children in or out when QR codes are available.

Note:

If you dismiss the location permissions, you will be prompted to enable them on subsequent logins.

Sign Children In and Out With Confidence

The Attendance tab helps you sign children in and out when arriving at or leaving a child care site.

An illustration shows a checklist for attendance

From the Attendance tab, you can use Remote Signing or QR Scan, if these options are enabled at your child care site.

Each sign-in and sign-out records:

  • Who performed the action
  • The time the action occurred
  • The saved signature used for the action

After you sign a child in or out, the app confirms that the action was successful.

If you have more than one child in care, you can sign multiple children in or out at the same time. This can help make busy drop-offs and pickups faster.

Note:

If no attendance options are available for your child care site, you can still use the Arux App to view and access your account information, pay bills, and more.

Remote Signing

Remote sign-in and sign-out are available when your program uses beacons and your device is within range of the child care site. The available range may vary by location.

The Arux App displays that the attendance beacon is in range

If Remote Signing is not available, you can use an on-site QR code displayed on the site’s device or posted at the location.

QR Scan

Tap Scan QR Code to open your device’s camera and scan the QR code displayed on the district or organization’s device.

After the QR code is scanned, the sign-in and sign-out options display on your device. This lets you complete the attendance action from your own device.

Stay Informed with the Activity Feed

The Activity tab gives you access to your children’s Activity Feed, including upcoming schedule information and recent activity.

The Activity Feed includes:

  • Scheduled care for the current and future dates
  • Scheduled absences for the current and future dates
  • Sign-in and sign-out activity
  • Status updates shared by the program, which may include photos
  • Location changes as they are recorded

The Arux App displays the activity for the day

You can view past, current, and future dates to check attendance history or confirm upcoming schedules. Status updates shared by program staff can also appear in the app, helping you stay informed throughout the day.

If you have more than one child on your account, the Activity Feed displays information for all of them in one place.

Manage Authorized Pickups

The Pickups tab allows Child Care Account Owners to manage who is authorized to pick up children from care, if this option has been enabled for the child care site.

From the app, Account Owners can:

  • View current Authorized Pickups
  • Add new Authorized Pickups
  • Modify or remove existing Authorized Pickups

The Arux App lists authorized pickups for the account and any pending authorized pickups

Changes take effect immediately. When a new Authorized Pickup is added, they automatically receive an email inviting them to download and set up the Arux App.

Authorized Pickups have access to:

  • Sign children in and out
  • View Activity information
  • See who else is authorized for pickup

Authorized Pickups cannot manage or remove other pickup contacts. This helps ensure that pickup permissions remain controlled by the Child Care Account Owner.

Account Owners can manage Authorized Pickups for their account. Authorized Pickups can use the app for pickup-related access, but cannot manage other pickup contacts.

Adding Authorized Pickups

Child Care Account Owners can add Authorized Pickups from the Pickups tab. To add an Authorized Pickup:

  1. Tap Add Authorized Pickup.
  2. Under Who is this person authorized to pick up?, select the children the person is allowed to pick up.

The Add Authorized Pickup screen shows a checkbox to select who the person is authorized to pickup

  1. Tap Generate Link.
The Your link is ready screen is displayed.

The Your link is ready screen displays steps to add the authorized pickup

  1. Tap Share Link.
  2. Use your device’s share options to send the link to the desired recipients.

If the recipient does not have an Arux account, the link prompts them to create an account from the Community Portal. After their account is created, they are added as a pending Authorized Pickup.

If the recipient already has an Arux account, opening the link adds them as a pending Authorized Pickup automatically.

Pending Authorized Pickups can be approved from the Pickups tab.

Approving Pending Authorized Pickups

After the invited person completes their profile, the Account Owner can approve or deny the request from the Pickups tab.

Once approved, the person is added as an Authorized Pickup for the selected children.
