      Installing Arux Connect: Child Care for iOS

      Before installing Arux Connect: Child Care, it is important to enable certain iOS features to allow notifications, access, and more. You can use any device running iOS 16 (or later), including iPhones and iPads to access the app.

      Note:

      When choosing which devices to purchase for your program, we advise choosing iPads of the most recent two generations. This ensures compatibility while providing the longest support from Apple.

      Downloading Arux Connect: Child Care

      1. Launch the App Store on your iOS device.
      2. Tap Search.
      3. Enter Arux Connect: Child Care into the search bar.
      4. Select the Arux Connect: Child Care icon.
      5. Tap Download.

      Enabling Notifications

      Enabling notifications is required to use Arux Connect: Child Care. Enabling notifications allows the app to receive real-time data syncing from Arux, even when the app is not currently in use.

      Navigate to Settings on your iOS device:

      1. Scroll down to your apps settings.
      2. Tap Attendance.
      3. Tap Notifications.

      1. Toggle Allow Notifications to on.
      2. Optional: Select the alerts you would like enabled.
        You can enable Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Banners.
      3. Toggle Sounds and Badges to on for notifications.

      Allowing Access to iOS Features

      After downloading Arux Connect: Child Care, it’s important to allow the app access to certain iOS features including cellular data and background refresh.

      Navigate to Settings on your iOS device:

      1. Scroll down to your apps settings.
      2. Tap Attendance.
      3. Toggle Background App Refresh on.

      1. Toggle Cellular Data to on (if available).
      Note:

      When prompted later, allow the app access to additional iOS features like the device’s camera.

      Setting an Arux Connect: Child Care Access Key

      To use Arux Connect: Child Care for your sites, you must set an Access Key for each site that will be using the app.

      To set an Access Key from the Admin Portal:

      1. Select Child Care > Sites.
      2. Select the site to set an Access Key for.
      3. Click Modify.
      4. Scroll down to the Arux Connect: Child Care section.
      5. Enter an Access Key.
      6. Click Save.

      Once set, you can use the Access Key to Authenticate in Arux Connect: Child Care.

      Security Timeout

      Important:

      To avoid possible data privacy issues we recommend setting the security timeout to be as low as possible for devices that parents will interact with.

      Setting the timeout to "Never" allows anyone with access to the opened app to view emergency contact, schedule, and other potentially sensitive information for all students. This option should only be considered for staff only devices.

      Extending or adjusting the security timeout allows you to choose how frequently you will need to re-enter your Access Key to continue using the Arux Connect: Child Care. Use the steps below to set the security timeout.

      Note:

      When the Arux Connect: Child Care screen is locked in Kiosk mode the app will not timeout. You will not have to re-enter the Access Key when families are signing in or out.

      Navigate to Settings on your iOS device:

      1. Scroll down to your apps settings.
      2. Tap Child Care.
      3. Tap Security Timeout.
      4. Select your desired Security Timeout duration.
      5. Tap < Attendance.
      6. Close and reopen Arux Connect: Child Care to implement the new security timeout duration.

      Compatible Devices

      Arux Connect: Child Care works on all versions of iOS 16 and later, though we recommend using devices of the most recent two generations.

      You can use the list provided below to see all of the devices you can choose. iOS 16 can be installed on the following devices:
